Crazy Week

We are moving this week, and things are going to be a little crazy in my world, so I probably will not have a chance to post again. I hope to get everything moved into our new apartment, and then put up some pictures of our new place sometime next week.

In the meantime, I also wanted to link to a couple new posts that CBMW is putting up by yours truly. It's overkill if you've already read my post on this blog, but if not, or if you just have time to kill, please click over and read it! This is a post from last Wednesday, and from what I understand, they are going to do parts for the next couple of Wednesdays, like a series. If you have any comments whatsoever, they LOVE feedback, and always pass it on to me, so please click on the feedback link on the CBMW blog. I'd love questions, too, as fuel to research more books!

  1. Gretchen, Would you mind if I link your CBMW post from the stores blog. I though maybe some of our readers might be interested.

  3. That is great, Gret. I am glad all of your book knowledge is going to be enjoyed by a larger audience at last. :-)
Love ya, girl. I will pray for your move--so glad you can get a bigger place. And decorate it for the new one!

    Gretchen,

I'm catching up on your blog today and have a comment regarding baby books and such. I read Babywise after I had my first son and tried the schedule with him. It didn't work perfectly, but eventually he got on a schedule. The same thing happened with my second son. They didn't want to follow a schedule perfectly and sometimes there was a lot of crying, but we tried to follow that routine.

Some books I wished I had read earlier in my parenting include "Shepherding a Child's Heart" and the creative parenting book by Raymond and Dorothy Moore. The Moores' book said that for a healthy baby, you can skip a feeding (mainly at night) from day one.

The newest book I read, "Why Gender Matters" by Leonard Sax says that nursing should be done on one side only per feeding (15-20 minutes max). This was not the advice I had when my boys were babies, but apparently it's what they are telling new mothers today. It would have saved me a lot of time back then.

Another book I found helpful was "To Train Up a Child" by Michael and Debi Pearl.
