Indelible Grace Concert

Last night, Matthew Smith and Indelible Grace had a free concert at our church, Clifton Baptist. What a source of Christian encouragement! In case you're not familiar with IG, they take old hymns that are beginning to be forgotten and write new melodies to them. The words of their songs are so rich! I really admire their dedication to these old songs, and the desire not to let them fall by the wayside, but to sing them on to another generation. Some songs have been changed around quite a bit, but others, like "Nothing but the Blood" and "Come Thou Fount" are totally unchanged. You can hear samples on their website.

Here's what it looks like when a row of Seminarians show up an hour early for good seats. That's Josh and our friends Kevin, Micah and Carrie.

Here's me and my friend Canaan. Can you believe we forgot books? We didn't show as early as the others, so we just chatted it up for a half hour or so. What I loved about this concert was how "church-family" it was. How gracious of IG to make the concert totally free so that everyone can come, even with their kids and babies!

I was so bummed to miss this! I really love their concerts b/c they put the words on the screen so you can sing along. The concert is not about them but about the Lord! A very rare thing indeed!

Don't forget Evan! He's in the pic too when you look at the larger version.

I'm so glad it was a great concert! Joshua and I were going to come and as we were walking(me hobbling!) out the door he said he didn't feel really well...so I told hi we didn't have to go. And he was like Ahh no lets just go and maybe not stay for the whole thing. So we get in the car and drive to Stilz and he's like, "Maybe this isn't such a good idea." So we go home and my poor guy spent the rest of the night with the effects of the flu :-(

I love their music. We do a lot of it in our church. "Thy Mercy My God" is one of my favorites.
Hey, I'm going to be up your way in April for the T4G conference. I'd love to see you all...coffee anyone?

Amelia! Glad to have you on here -- I'll have to link you, I checked out your blog today for awhile!

Geen -- you will love you some IG

Paul -- We pretty much live in the best and most central local! Yay for T4G! Josh will be there but I will be missing. You will have to swing by my great bookstore while you're in town (not that you won't be laden down with stacks of free books already). Haha! Did you go last time?

Hi Gretchie! I am saaaaa-ad because I wanted to come down this weekend, and can't because I realized this is my Sunday for children's church---(that makes me happy by the way), I just figured when I came I would go to church with you, but it won't work this weekend if I do that....! I miss thee and thy husband.... :) And Emily. ;) sniffle
