Baby's Room, or, Nesting Part 2

Here are some pictures of the nursery we've put together for the baby! It's been so fun, and we are so blessed by so many generous friends who gave us wonderful things. I've honestly spent almost nothing on the baby (so far -- haha!). We tried to plan ahead a bit and not go SUPER girlie with everything, so that if we are blessed with more children, we will have some things we can use over and over. The Lord has provided for us by giving us this new apartment where we are SAVING money every month and we roughly have double the space from our last. We were blessed in Fuller, and enjoyed our time there, but it really is going to be nice to have a room for the baby! That said, here are some pictures!

First, here is the gorgeous quilt my dad got me from Pottery Barn Kids. I'm planning to have the baby's name embroidered on it once she's here. Maybe her birthdate, too. What do you think?

A shot of the room with the lovely bookcase we turned into a changing table and the Pottery Barn Magazine Rack bookshelf my friend Misty sent me. I got some good deals on baskets on sale at Michael's and then covered them with green gingham liners from Pottery Barn Kids. They are holding little toys, blankets, sleepers, onesies, socks, shoes and hairbows -- all generous gifts for our baby girl!

I tried to get a picture of the whole room from the doorway. It's hard to quite get it all in, however! But you get the feel of the room. I think it looks very classic and relaxing. I'm looking forward to spending some time in there when the baby arrives!

I'm having a hard time with blogger, so those 3 pictures will have to be enough for now. We've got everything ready for you, Baby J! You can come any time!

If you put the name and birthday of the baby on the quilt, you can't really use it for the next baby.

I love the green. Very pretty.

Rebecca -- thanks so much. That is a very sweet thing to say!

Brit -- good point, but I'm not planning to use the quilt again. It's just for her. I love personalized things, but I'm drawing the line there and the family tree. MAYBE I'll get letters to spell her name eventually. But I got my initials on the diaper bag, since it's really mine, and I hope to get to use it again with other kiddos.

Gretchen, Love the room! and i think it's great how you switched the furniture around. You have such a good eye for design and for adding the small details that give it personality. I am not good at that at all. This is such a special room and special time! Excited for you at all that is to come.

Gretchen,
What a beautiful room...it looks so classic and peaceful. You have such good taste.
I think it would be good to put her name and birthdate on the quilt. Then add each new one as she or he arrives.
You could hang it as a display when all your children are grown. It would make a nice keepsake.
Just a thought.

i love the room!!! i think that personalizing her quilt is really sweet. It is good to be able to share from one baby to the next but i think each child having one or two "special" keepsakes is really sweet. When Molly was born her granny and grandpa bought her, on the day she was born, the sweetest pair of bib overalls with pink ruffles. When she out grew them her daddy put them in his top dresser drawer and there they stayed until her wedding day. He gave them to her at the reception--He told her that he wanted her to now have them as a reminder of where she came from. It was a really sweet tribute. So i think little Miss N. will enjoy having her very own quilt. Enjoy your day....t

Oooh! Aunt Donna! I might have to do something like that! I think this quilt will probably be just for her, but maybe I will get another to use with your idea. That is really special. Of course, this may be the only child I have, but Lord willing, we'll have at least a few more!
